Have I ever told you how much Kayl loves Dinosaurs? No, well he is totally in love with anything that has to do with dinosaurs especially Raptors. Kayl loves to watch the Jurassic Park movies and for Christmas we got him a lot of dinosaur stuff.
Today I decided that we would have a Dino Day after he came home from school. First we started off at the BYU Dinosaur museum. It's small, but Kayl loved it!

He is such a little cheeser!!
Our next stop was The Thanksgiving Point Dinosaur museum. Kayl was so in love here. He got to see his Raptor.

1982 ~ 2011
Our beloved Angel, Kayleen Nicole Tangreen, age 29, of Orem,passed away from pneumonia on November 4, 2011 at the TimpanogosRegional Hospital. She was born June 11, 1982 in Provo, Utah, adaughter of Dennis Tangreen and Wendy Bendio.
Kayleen graduated from High School at the Dan Peterson School inAmerican Fork. She enjoyed going for rides, watching movies, goingto the mall with her friends and working on craft projects atSTEPS. She enjoyed Young Women's, Temple baptisms, Girls's Camp,Youth Conferences, and her love of the people around her.
She is survived by her father Dennis Tangreen, mother andstep-father Wendy and Logan Bendio, her brothers and sister Todd(Katharine) Tangreen, Randy Tangreen and Rachel Tangreen. She isalso survived by her grandparents Kay and Judy Tangreen, Ken andJoAnn Benson, great-grandparents Robert and Marjorie Roberts aswell as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins that will all miss hergreatly. She touched the lives of everyone who took the time tointeract with her.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to all thestaff at Topham's Care Center for the love and care that was shownto Kayleen over the years.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 at11:00 a.m at the Timp Park 1st Ward Chapel, 1000 North Main Street,Orem. A visitation will be held Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. atthe Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, and alsoTuesday at the ward chapel from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to theservices. I was Honored to be able to speak at her funeral. My mother-in-law asked me to do the life sketch because she knew that she would not be able to get thru it without crying. So, here is what I said.

Kayleen Nicole Tangreen passed away Nov. 4th 2011 of pneumonia, she was 29 years old. Kayleen was born on June 11th 1982 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center to Dennis Tangreen & Wendy Benson Bendio. She was a happy girl with an infectious smile. She touched everyone she met & made friends easily. She graduated from High School at Dan Peterson School in American Fork. After she Graduated she moved into Topham’s Care Center where she lived until she passed away. She Loved it there & they loved her.
   During her life she had many fun & special Experiences. She was able to go with her young women’s group to do baptisms for the dead. The young women & leaders helped her get dressed for the baptisms, she was the first to be baptized for the dead. She also attended girl’s camp & youth conference where a neighbor, Jeff Turner, carried her where her wheelchair could not got. She loved Jeff for that. She also worked with the young men & young women to beautify the neighborhood by carrying potted flowers on her wheelchair tray & delivering them where they were to be planted.
   When Kayleen went to work at STEPS, she enjoyed painting rocks & making a variety of crafts. She also liked working in the office and delivering papers. If she had money in her purse, which was most of the time, she would go shopping with friends.
   Kayleen had a lot of compassion for her friends & staff at STEPS, if one of them was having a bad day or sad she would stay by their side to let them know she cared by keeping them company until they felt better.
   She had quite a sense of humor. The first talker she had, she learned to push buttons to make it say “Brother is a pain” She loved her family, friends & all the people around her & was always smiling.
   Kayleen enjoyed singing. She would sing karaoke with her friends at Topham’s and she loved singing in Young Women’s.
   Jake, a friend at Topham’s, took her on a date to see a Toby Keith concert. Jake’s mom bought Kayleen the cutes western outfit, all the way down to the boots. The music was great & all Kayleen wanted to do was dance so, six foot Matt picked her up out of her wheelchair & danced with her. Then Karen, her leader at STEPS and friend, bought her a Toby Keith T-Shirt.
   Kayleen was one of the biggest flirts, when a good looking guy would walk in she was right by them trying to get their attention.
   Kayleen loved children & babies. When we would sit out in the foyer at church she would take the kids that came out of the chapel for rides around the Church. The first time Kayleen met her nephew Kayl both of them had the biggest smiles on their faces. It was a special moment to witness.
   Kayleen had a favorite scripture. 2 Timothy 1 7-8 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear: but of power, and love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partakers of the afflictions of the Gospel according to the power of God”
   She is survived by her father, Dennis Tangreen, her mother & step-father, Wendy & Logan Bendio, her sister Rachel, her brother Randy, her brother & sister-in-law Todd & Katharine Tangreen & her nephew Kayl. She is also survived by her grandparents Kay & Judy Tangreen, Ken & JoAnn Benson, and Great Grandparents Robert & Marjorie Robert, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, & cousins that will all miss her greatly.
   Kayleen was a special & wonderful Daughter & friend. Everyone is better having known her. She had a wonderful spirit that will always remain in our hearts. We miss you everyday Kayleen and we can’t wait to see you again.
   We love you with all of our hearts.

Labor Day Fun

Our friends invited us to go to a park for some labor day fun. I have only been to this particular park twice and I knew they had a fountain. When we got there Kayl ran straight for it and never looked back.

This one is my favorite of them all. He is just too cute.

Even when he got cold he didn't want to leave, but being the "mean" mom that I am, I made him get out and get dry. It was fun to play at the park with our friends.

Funny Story

Yesterday, Todd and I were in the car heading to Winco to fill up the fridge. We were talking about how busy his day was when all of a sudden Kayl sneezed and Todd almost jumped out of his skin. I laughed so hard I was crying and it made me flashback to the first time I truly scared Todd.

We were living together at the time and Todd was out doing the dishes. I had just gotten home from work and went to take a shower because I hated smelling like bagels. I was in our room for about 20 seconds when I thought it would be funny to just run out of the room at Todd. I decided not to scream but since the apartment was on the second floor you could hear my footsteps and they were loud.

I ran at him, not knowing that his back was turned to me and since I wasn't screaming he thought that it was the dishwasher blowing up because I was stomping while running. Then I came around the corner and grabbed his side and he fell to the floor in tears because he had no idea that I was behind him. I was just rolling on the floor laughing at him. It was the first and last time I have ever truly scared him. Ahhh, good times.

Truth and Reconciliation

Truth: Todd and I have been in debt since before we were married. We finally decided to calculate it and it was well over 30,000 dollars. 15,000 of it was in medical bills.
Reconciliation: After many talks with my parents and our Bishop we came to a solution. Todd and I have filed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.

Truth: We are fully aware that simply filing doesn't fix our habits. We know we have spending issues and have come to terms with it, and are learning from our mistakes.
Reconciliation: We are taking the advice of our Bishop and my parents and we are addressing the mistakes that we made head on so we will not make them again.

Truth: I have high ambitions for myself and I'm hoping to start school in the spring.
Reconciliation: I understand that it will put us in debt again but I'm fully committed to becoming a nurse.

Bike Riding

Awhile back and I both got bikes. Then Todd got hit and he got a new one. We have a really nice kid seat that Kayl just loves. I need to get a trailer for my back since I can't balance with the kid seat on there. Anyway, Kayl loves to go on rides.

I always know where Todd is because Kayl loves that horn.

We got a new car!! I was very nervous to but the van on KSL because I didn't think anyone would want it since it completely stopped running. But, by some miracle, a guy from Salt Lake called and said he would pay 400 for it as is. I was so grateful that he didn't care that it wasn't running.
I was still nervous to sell it because I wanted to make sure that we would have a car the same day we sold the van. I was on KSL for 5 hours yesterday searching for a working car that wasn't that expensive. Finally, I came across a car that someone was selling for 600 so we called him up and went to take a test drive. We fell in love. Then the most amazing thing happened, the guy we were buying the car from dropped the price to 400!! We broke even!!
There are a few minor things wrong with the car. The most expensive thing that will have to be fixed is an oil leak. The Transmission in this car is in perfect condition. We are excited to have a car that can pass safety and emissions, as well as be a good reliable car.

I'm so grateful to the years we had with the van and I'm very blessed that the Lord had his hand in this situation.
P.S. Kayl is madly in love with the fact that it is a convertible. He loves the wind in his face!!

After three years of ownership and a few road trips, the van my parents gave us died. We knew that the van had some issues and I took it to the repair shop and it would have cost over 3000 dollars to fix. The transmission crapped out on us. Dang it.

Todd and I were at Maceys almost an hour ago and Todd did the funniest thing. We ran in to grab some snappers and when we came out Todd walked to our car and tried to open Kayl's door, it didn't open. I looked at him with a confused face and moved further away from him. So, he opened the front door and was about to unlock the car when it finally hit him that our car was actually the next one over. I just laughed.
What a dweeb.

Family Zombie Killing Time

I'll admit that we love to play video games at our house. The best ones are the Zombie games. By far our favorite is Left for Dead 2.

It's so funny when we play now because Kayl is at the age where he wants to play too, so we hand him a controller and he will get so excited to push the buttons and warn us when a zombie is coming.

Kayl loves to pretend to be the Hunter, the Tank, and the Clown. In the morning when he wakes up he knocks on his door and then hides so when I open the door he can jump at me like a Hunter. So fun!!

Bike Accident

When Todd and I were growing up we always learned that when you ride a bike you must wear a helmet and go against traffic. We had no idea that the law had changed.

Yesterday, Todd was riding his bike to work when he got to 800 south in Orem a car didn't see him and hit the back of the bike totally destroying it and knocking Todd to the ground. Todd was okay and the driver of the car was really sorry that he didn't pay attention. When the police showed up they didn't issue any tickets because they were both ay fault because Todd was going against traffic and not with it. We had no idea the law changed.

The guy that hit Todd gave him 200$ for a new bike and gave him a ride to work. Alls well that ends, well I guess.

Home again (June 24)

Kayl woke us up at 7 a.m. again so we packed up and checked out so we could leave as soon as possible. It was a long drive made even longer because we had to drive to Layton to drop Rachel off at her house. We finally arrived at our house around 8:30 p.m. I quickly threw in a load of laundry and we went to get groceries.
I miss California but I'm glad to be home.

Peggy Sue's and Vegas (June 23)

We woke up at 8 a.m. and had the car packed by 8:30. We were on the road by 9 a.m. on our way home. Kayl was so sad to leave his cousins.
Anyway, we drove until we got to a little city called Yermo which has a cute cafe and gift shop called Peggy Sue's. We ate some lunch there and Todd took Kayl around back to see the Dinosaur park they have.

After Kayl got his wiggles out we piled back into the van and headed to Las Vegas, where I had already made our hotel reservations at the Circus Circus.
When we got there we checked in and once again went swimming. Have I told you how much Kayl loves water?
By the time we were done Kayl was exhausted and didn't want to go over to the Adventuredome so he just passed out. Todd volunteered to stay in the hotel room so Rachel and I could go wander around for awhile.
On our adventure we stopped so Rachel could sit and take a smoke break. At the same time Todd called me to tell me that the roll away bed had arrived. While I was on the phone with him my knee cap decided that it would take a vacation of it's own. It popped completely out of it's socket and went to the left side then it headed over to the right side before going back into it's socket. I fell down so fast that Rachel just stared at me. She didn't know what to do. I was still on the phone with Todd and I really didn't want to cry so I just started laughing about it.
It took me an hour to walk back to the hotel room. My knee is still swollen but hurts less.
I decided that it was time for bed so I passed out with a bag of ice on my knee.

Family Dinner and Swimming with the cousins (June 22)

The reason we were in California was for Todd's Grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. They are the two most amazing people in the world. Grandpa has survived two strokes, two heart attacks and a quadruple bypass. It is amazing to be part of this family and see the love that these two have for each other after 50 years and eight kids.

After a fantastic dinner Carson, one of Kayls cousins, came knocking on our door and asked if Kayl could go swimming with him. Kayl was so excited to go swimming with his cousins. When we got down to the pool Carson, Hudson, and Brenner all came and took him away from me. We were lucky enough that the hotel we were at had a kiddie pool. They took turns catching him when he went down the slide. Kayl had a blast.

We let Kayl stay up late that night so he could watch the Fireworks from the hot tub.

The Beach (June 22)

We tried to sleep in a little bit before heading to the beach but Kayl was so excited that he woke up at 7 a.m., so we all got up and got ready to go. It took us over an hour to get to the beach because Todd got lost. When we arrived Kayl was so confused by the sand, he keep sinking in and laughing. He had such a great time playing in the sand, digging holes and throwing shells back into the ocean.

Disneyland Day 2 (June21)

We woke up at 7 a.m. so we could get to the park the minute it opened. Todd pulled the covers off of my legs and noticed that they were three times their normal size. I could barely move, but I didn't want to miss a day, so I sucked it up for the walk over to the park. By the time we got to the main gate I was in tears so Todd ran and rented me a motorized scooter. I looked so cute on it.

The good thing about being in a scooter is that I got to the front of the line with Todd and Kayl on every ride.
We headed back into Fantasyland so we could finish some of the rides we had missed. We hit Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Casey Jr., Dumbo, Teacups (twice, it was Kayls favorite), and Small World.

My whole goal of this vacation was to get our family ears, so after we got off the Teacups we found a store that sold the ears and we each picked one out. I got Kermit the Frog, Todd got Jack Skeleton, and Kayl got R2D2.

After we had our ears we headed over to the Finding Nemo ride. Kayl was so excited to see Nemo. It was a cool ride.

After Nemo, we headed over to Star Tours and got a ticket that told us what time to come back since the wait was over 4 hours. We headed over to another little bistro and had hamburgers again and got to watch a Jedi Training session. After we had eaten, we dropped Kayl off with my mother in law and then we went on Star Tours. It was incredible how much it had changed.
Kayl and I were exhausted after that ride so we headed back to the hotel and relaxed while Todd and his sister Rachel went over to California Adventure and went on California Screaming and Tower of Terror.

Before they got back I called Todd and had him stop and get us some dinner. He got back and we ate and then passed out.

Disneyland Day 1 (June 20)

Kayl was so excited to go to Disneyland that he woke us up at 5 a.m. We tried so hard to get him to go back to sleep until 7 but nothing worked so we let him take a shower and then we got ready to go.
We had a huge family picture that we had to take before we could go our own way. It took close to an hour for everyone to arrive at the park and stand in front of the Mickey flowers. There were 75 people on our group, it was crazy!!
When the picture was over Kayl started signing that he was hungry, so we stopped at one of the bakeries on Main Street and got us some pastries. They were amazing!!
After we finished eating we took Kayl on his first roller coaster, The Haunted Mansion. Let me tell you, that ride scared me to death when I was little but Kayl had a blast until the ride was over. Every time we got off a ride he would cry, but he had fun while he was on them. The second we got off that ride we went next door the The Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Kayl actually highly enjoyed this one. He waved at all the Pirates and danced to the music.
We then headed over to Tom Sawyers island and we let Kayl run around for a while. He had such a blast in the tree house.

Once we got back to the main area we headed towards Splash Mountain just to see if they would allow Kayl on since he was only two inches too short. Alas, they said no so we walked around the corner and low and behold Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore were there meeting people. Kayl eyes lit up when he saw them, so we stood in line to meet them.

After we saw them we headed over to Fantasyland. Kayl was in awe when we walked through that castle.

Our first stop there was the Snow White ride, then we headed to Peter Pan, and finally hit Mr. Toads Wild Ride. We would have hit some more but after each ride we spent 10 minutes calming Kayl down. My theroy is that it was the noise level and bright lights that scared him.

We then stopped in a little bistro and had a yummy lunch of hamburgers and chicken. After lunch we took Kayl to the best place in Disneyland, Toontown.
Toontown has changed a lot from when I was there last. I remember being to big and having to watch Sarah and Emily play around. This time I was actually able to go in all of the houses and explore with Kayl.

Todd even took Kayl to Mickeys house where they were able to meet Mickey. Kayl was overjoyed to meet him.

We stayed in Toontown for a while longer because we wanted to go on the Roger Rabbit ride. The wait was a 75 minute wait. Thankfully the entire wait is inside and airconditioned with all this neat stuff to look at.

After Toontown, we headed out of Disneyland and over to Downtown Disney. I heard that there was a Build a Bear there and I wanted to badly to take Kayl there. We even brought Morgan, one of his Build a Bears from home, but by the time we got there Kayl had completly passed out in his stroller. That didn't stop me from going in and looking around. Todd then saw the best store in the world, the Lego store. We walked in and were in awe of how huge it was. We got Kayl a Cute Winnie the Pooh duplo set and we even built ourselves in lego character form.

After we got everything we wanted we very slowly made our way back to the hotel. My Carpal Tunnel decided to make an awesome apperance. By the time we got to the hotel my entire lower half of my body was swollen. I quickley took a bath and then iced my legs and ankles because we had made plans to stay in Disneyland until midnight that night and I was not going to miss that opportunity.
After the swelling went down enough that I could walk again we dropped Kayl off with my mother in law and headed back to the park. Our first Stop was the Indiana Jones ride.
The last time I was in Disneyland they had just barely opened this ride. I was terrified to go on it but my Mom insisted that I go. I cried the whole wait which was probably about 45 minutes. Then I cried on the ride, and even as we were exiting the ride I was still crying, but through my tears I asked my Mom if we could go again. She just rolled her eyes and said no. I feel so bad that I did that because the ride was awesome. Sorry Mom.
We then went straight from Indiana Jones to Splash Mountain and we were on that ride in 5 minutes. Todd made me sit in the front so I could get soaked. It was great.
Then, we ran across the park to Space Mountain which has under gone some awesome renovations. We waited in line for and hour and a half, but it was worth it.
After those rides it was midnight so we had to head to out of the park and back to our sleeping child. Our first day was awesome!!

Swimming (June 19)

Since we arrived at the hotel around 3 p.m. and we weren't going to Disneyland until the 20th Todd took Kayl swimming for a good 3 hours. I wasn't feeling well from the drive so I stayed in our room and took all of these pictures. I had no idea my cameras zoom was this good.
We definitely have a water baby. We went swimming everyday we were on this vacation, it was awesome.

Primm and Calico (June 18-19)

We left our house on Saturday the 18th at around 7:30 a.m. We were so excited to leave, Kayl ran to the van and sat right down in his seat, it was so cute. We drove down to St. George and made a quick stop there for my favorite food, Jack in the Box.

Whenever I go down to St. George I have to stop there and get a Sourdough Jack with an Orange Fanta.

We then headed straight to Primm. Primm is a little city right on the border of California and Nevada. It also has a huge roller coaster called the Desperado. Todd convinced me to go on it with him. I started to panic when we were waiting for the ride to come back and pick us up. The video above my head kept explaining the ride and how fast it goes. It's goes from zero to eighty in a matter of seconds and the first drop is a 225 ft drop. As scary as it was, I had a great time on it.
We stayed the night in Primm so it didn't feel like such a long drive.
We woke up at 7 a.m. thanks to Kayl. Since it was Fathers day I decided to take Todd and Kayl down to the Denny's for breakfast.
After we ate, Todd ran back to the room and grabbed our luggage and we were on the road by 8:30.
Our next stop was a little ghost town called Calico. It was so hot, but it was really interesting to see the town. I even learned that there is about 6 million dollars worth of silver still in the hills above Calico, but it would cost nearly 10 million just to process it so it would not be worth it. LOL.

After about an hour of wandering the town we got back on the road and headed to Anaheim to find our hotel. We were excited to find out that we were staying at the Howard Johnson which is literally a five minute walk from Disneyland.

Controversy

OK. My last post was my perception of what has been going on to be for years and Yes, I have been to extensive therapy. I have be getting help, Depression is not a thing that can be cured. I live with it day to day. I didn't mean to offend or scare anyone.

Standing at the edge of Hell

I will be very honest in this post.
For years now, I have been diagnosed with severe bi-polar disorder. I have been on medications for it since Jr. High. My manic episodes can be set off by anything and at anytime.
For the past 2 years I have been battling an invisable illness. I can feel myself slowly slipping away.
I know many people will just tell me to suck it up and move on. Depression does not work that way. I have a severe case of insomnia because when I lay down to sleep I hear voices telling me that everyone hates me and putting bad thoughts into my dreams.
Now, many of you are probably thinking that I'm just crazy and should be locked away somewhere.
I have tried to kill myself in the past and have scars to prove it. To be honest, I really don't know what compelled me to write this post. I feel that people need to understand the severity of my depression and what it is doing to me.
I can hide my depression very well. It is getting physically harder for me to hide it lately. My mind is always on. I feel on the edge of a mental breakdown.
I knew when I came to Earth that life would be hard. I've been reminded but the sweet ladies in my ward that I choose this life, I choose to have depression. It is a comfort for me to know that I did choose to have this demon in my life.
I know that Christ is watching over me, even carrying me right now. For that I am truly grateful and humbled.
I love you all and know that you love me.

Dear Job Interveiwers and World

You are getting on my nerves. Do you know how hard it is for a fat person to get a job.
I've had several interviews where the other person is skinny, cute, and underqualified. Yet they get the job because I'm fat and it is not good for PR.
I don't appreciate being called that in the interview either.
Let's go back to a time where being chubby was readily accepted.

First Day of School

Today was Kayl's first day of school. He absolutely loved it. When the bus arrived this afternoon he rushed to get on. After they buckled him in he kept waving to me out the window. He did great in class. He adapted very well to the schedule and was great with the other kids. When the bus dropped him off he was in tears because he didn't want to come home. He wanted to stay at school all day. It was so cute!!

Concerning Babies

I have found myself getting baby hungry. I keep seeing a lot of my friends having their second or third child and I find myself jealous. I'll admit that Todd and I have been trying for over a year and a half now with no luck.
Things just got really bad for me health wise. The doctor was about to put me on some fertility drugs when all of a sudden my health took a turn for the worse. So, we had to put off trying for a baby. I find myself in tears most nights cause I'm longing for another child that I can hold in my arms.
Probably the worst day of my life was after I had my D&C last year and my doctor said if my body started bleeding like that again they would have to do a hysterectomy. I was devastated to hear that.
After many prayers and fasts we got the impression that we are not done having children. I felt a little better but I still feel like my body just wants to call it quits and not ever let me have a child again.
The past year and a half has been the hardest of my life. I have been to 20 different doctors who have no idea what is happening. It is so frustrating to be sick with something that no one knows what it is. My hope this year is to be healthy enough to have another child. Todd and I have both gotten the impression that it is time.
I know that it will be a long road and I would appreciate prayers and support.Thanks to everyone who reads this blog. I appreciate the love you guys have for me.

My baby sister got MARRIED!!!!!!!! The sealing was beautiful. It was so amazing to be there. I took some really great pictures of her and she was gorgeous. Morgan is a great guy and Emily is so happy with him. I'm so glad that I was able to be there for this special day.

Lady Gaga

For some reason Kayl absolutely loves dancing to Lady Gaga. The minute he hears it in the car he goes crazy. So, we got the songs that he loves and whenever I play them he goes nuts. He just loves to dance. He is so cute.
(Side note: Kayl is starting school on January 12. I'm super excited)

Emily says that I need to blog more to keep her up to date on what's going on around here. You could always call silly goose.
Anyway, life's been pretty busy at the Tangreen house. Kayl has been going to so many different appointments it is hard to keep track. So far, he has had three appointments with Alpine School District and three appointments with a speech and occupational therapist.
Alpine school district told me that we should know by Monday next week what school Kayl will be going too. They are hoping to get him into school before Christmas. If that doesn't work out than he will start at the beginning of the year.
Kayl will also continue with his speech and occupational therapy outside of school. I'm pretty excited to know that he'll be getting the help he needs and I'll have nine hours a week to myself. The next step is trying to figure out what to do with that time.
Well, it is official, I have been sick for an entire year. We have no idea still what is causing my sickness. I've learned to deal with it. Plus, I ran out of my pills and have not had the money to get them refilled. I feel about 65% better but my body heat is out of control.
Thankfully, I have Todd. He does so much for me. He is trying so hard to find ways to earn extra money so I don't have to stress myself out by trying to work.
Our family is doing great. I really just don't think we are that interesting so I never blog. I guess that's it for now. I'll keep you all updated on Kayl's progress.

Well, to start off, my doctors still have no idea what is going on with me. My body presents new symptoms each day and they seem to be getting worse. Poor Todd and Kayl have to deal with the house being 32 degrees because for some reason my body cannot cool down. If my windows aren't open and my fans are off I am in tears because I feel like my body temp. is at 250 degrees. It is getting worse all the time. Thankfully Todd and Kayl don't complain, they just bundle themselves up.
On a better note, Kayl turned 3 on the 28th of October. It's so weird to think that I have a three year old. It seems only yesterday that he was born. Thanks to everyone who came to his party. Thanks for all the presents, we really appreciate it.
Back to some sadder news. Kayl is now having to go to occupational and speech therapy. He still has not started talking and he isn't walking as well as he should be. His speech therapist classified him in with the Autistic and Mental Retarded children speech wise. She doesn't think he is either if them but because his speech is so slow she is hoping we can get him into Special Ed in Alpine School district which would help him get up to speed before Kindergarten.
Happy news!!! My Little sister Emily is getting married to an amazing guy. I'm so excited for her. I think that's about it for now. Thanks for reading!!

ER Visit 10/9/10

I woke up on the morning in question feeling like crap. The night before I had been throwing up and not feeling great. I thought that I could have just gotten what Todd and Kayl had earlier in the week.
Todd was very nice to let me sleep in till 1:30. I love that man.
Around 4 pm was when everything started to go downhill. I started getting really painful chest pains. I down played them so Todd wouldn't freak out. I thought that I was having them cause I hadn't really moved all day. So, I decided that we should go to the Halloween Store. That was around 6 pm.
While at the store my left arm started to go numb and tingle. Then it would send a shooting pain up my arm. Then it went numb again. I once again down played the severity of my pain to Todd.
When we got home I noticed that breathing had become very very hard and painful. Again, being me, I down played it. I thought that I could just imagine it away. I knew we didn't have the money for the ER but that if I didn't get help and I was having a heart attack I would die.
Around 8 pm, I was in so much pain and Todd knew it. He said that he didn't care about the money, he just didn't want to lose me. So he rushed me to Orem Community Hospital.
Side Note: Orem Community is a very under rated ER. I usually go to Utah Valley and they are packed. I was the only one at the ER, it was nice.
I was put into a room really quick and was hooked up to an IV and an EKG thingy. When the doctor came in I told him all of my symptoms and that my ANA had been positive but that I hadn't been able to see the specialist to get the Lupus Panel done. He told me that my heart was fine but he didn't know why I was showing the symptoms of a heart attack.
I was wheeled to the X-Ray so they could look at my chest. After that was done they did a lot of blood tests that all came back clean.
They then gave me some pain killers that are supposedly 50 times stronger than Morphine. That's when something really strange happened. Out of nowhere my left ankle felt like someone had smashed it with a sledgehammer. The pain intensified so rapidly that they gave me more pain meds but they made it worse. They couldn't find the solution for it so they ignored it. The pain brought me to tears.
Finally, the doctor came in to talk to me about his findings. He said that I have a severe case of Carpal Tunnel and that's what caused my left arm to go numb. My chest pain is caused by Costochondritis, which is inflamed rib cartilage. He also said that I have Chronic Nausea, probably caused by my medications I take daily.
Thankfully, my family doctor, Dr. Pratte, was coming in later that night and he would be brought up to speed on my case so when I make my appointment to see him this week he will know what to look for.
I was finally sent home at 10:40 pm. It was a long, scary, and painful night. I have been sick for ten months and I'm was slowly getting worse but I seem to have picked up speed in getting worse area. Oh, well.

People Suck

I've pretty much decided that people suck. See, two years ago we moved to our current apartment and were not able to take our precious cats with us. Now, I know most of you don't really care but this is something that is very near and dear to my heart.
I loved those cats with all of my heart and was so depressed when we couldn't bring them along. Poor Kayl ran around the house looking for them for three days.
I took them to the shelter praying that they would be adopted because they were really good cats.
Two years later I go to the shelter just to look around and I get the nerve up to request the adoption information on my cats to see if they were adopted. My worst fears were realized, all three of them were put to sleep because no one wants older cats. Everyone wants kittens.
I feel so terrible that we couldn't find them homes on our own. I loved those cats and now I miss them so much and I feel so bad. People Suck!

The other day I was awakened by Kayl screaming in his room. I turned and looked at my phone. It was 6:30 am. I rolled out of bed and walked into his room.
Kayl was sitting on his bed surrounded by black throw-up. I don't do throw-up well so I turned around a told Todd to get out of bed.
I went in and started the bath water and Todd got Kayl naked for me and I put him in the bath.
I was sitting on the floor in the bathroom when I heard Todd start laughing hysterically. He came into the bathroom with Kayl's bedding and put it in the washer. I asked him what was so funny.
When he had gone to take the sheets off of Kayl's bed he discovered a stash of Oreos under Kayl's pillow.
Evidently, Kayl decided to have a late night snack and make himself sick. I didn't even know he knew how to hide food from me. I have to keep my eye on him.

Today I went back to the doctor to get an in-depth reading of my blood tests. Turns out that my Vitamin D has dropped lower. My glucose and Insulin are going down so thats about the one positive thing. They are Testing me for Lupus, which would suck if I have it but it is something that I know I could live with.

I am such a terrible blogger. Anyway, to catch ya'll up in the goings on at our house....

I've been doing a little better since the surgery and the doctors still don't know anything. They did rule out cancer which is a good thing. My OB is really concerned with my getting sick for a week after Todd and I have intercourse. If anyone knows what cause you to throw up for four days and to not be able to walk for two days afterwards let me know. My doctor and I are stumped.

Kayl has been doing great! He can now say HI, WOW, MOM, and DAD. we read to him daily and he understands what we say. He got a cute haircut the other day so now Todd and Kayl are twinners.

I was rewarded two weeks ago for listening to Showtunes Saturday night. I won four tickets to Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and the Murray ampitheatre. Let me tell you, that was an amazing show.

I had a job interview that looked very promising but she never called me back and whenever I try to call her I can't get through. It would have be nice to work for a few months. Oh, well.

Todd was supposed to get a promotion but they ended up giving him more things to do and a pay drop. A bunch of his co-workers are upset that he didn't get the full promotion. Not much we can do but wait it out.

We took our yearly trip to the zoo the other day. Kayl was having so much fun running around the zoo. He was excited to be out of his stroller. His favorite animals are the big cats. The tigers and lynx were hiding and it made Kayl sad. So we kept walking. We got to the Snow Leopard cage and it was laying right against the glass. Kayl runs up to the glass and started to pet and kiss the kitty. Kayl misses our cats so much.

I know this may sound silly to some of you but when we had our cats I was so much healthier. I noticed my health declining 2 weeks after we took them to the pound. I don't fully understand it but I have a weird connection with cats. They just make me feel so much better. So, Todd and I have started every Saturday going to PetSmart to play with the kitties that they have there. It makes me happier. Last Saturday there was a box of kittens and I was able to pick them up and play with them. I wanted to take all of them home with me. There is this one cat there that has been there for four months now. She looks so much like our old cat Haru did. She gets so excited when I come and see her. She licks me and tries to cuddle with me. I just want to hold her and take her home. Sometimes I hate being such and emotional person with animals. I always want to rescue every animal I see.

My little sister Emily came home from her mission two weeks ago. I can't even begin to tell you how much I missed her. I missed being able to call and talk to her or her coming over cause I made cookie dough and she wanted some. I love Emily.

I think that is pretty much all that has happened in the past month.

Sarah's Wedding

Emergency Surgery

I had to have a D&C the day before Sarah's wedding. I went in for the surgery at 9 and got home at noon. That night I went to Sarah's wedding dinner and I was feeling great. Friday morning I woke up early to go down to the Manti Temple for Sarah's wedding and that is when the pain set in. Oh My!! I hurt so much. Surgery sucks!!

I know I'm way behind. I took Kayl down to Grover with my family. Todd stayed in Orem cause he had taken too many days off already. Kayl enjoyed going to the waterfall when we got there. He really didn't like sleeping in the tent.

Still Alive

Yes, we are still alive. I know that it has been awhile since I've even thought about blogging. Not a whole lot has happened.
Todd got called to be the Young Men's secretary and I got called to be the Assistant Librarian. We love our callings and our ward. I'm grateful for all of the support the Relief Society has been giving me.
I've been extremely sick since January and the doctors still have not found anything out. I've been through so many tests and so far they found that my Vitamin D is a little low. Right now I'm hooked up to a heart monitor as they try to find out what is causing the pain and rapid heartbeat I've been having. Todd has been the best husband in the world. I have no energy anymore and sadly, I've been confined to my couch. I feel like a terrible mother. I can't get on the floor and play with Kayl.
I think Kayl understands most of what is going on. He has been so good. He is constantly bringing me books for me to read to him.
My house is in constant chaos. I feel trapped. Todd is an angel, he comes home for working all day and goes straight to cleaning the house and trying to figure dinner out.
Enough about me, Kayl got his teeth fixed. We finally were able to have the surgery done. He had 4 extractions, 5 root canals and 10 crowns. Poor little guys mouth was so sore afterwards. His mouth has started to heal and he is a completely different child. He is so much happier and runs around babbling more. The dentist thinks that Kayl didn't want to talk because his mouth hurt too much. He wants us to get four fake front teeth put in so it will help with speech. It does cost quite a bit and we can't decide if it will be worth it. He is a lot more talkative now. Any suggestions?
Thankfully, Todd has an amazing immune system and is rarely sick. He is the most amazing husband in the world. Todd works so hard to keep our family afloat each month. This economy hasn't been the best but we make it work for us. We have been downsizing our items and have been having many yard sales trying to get rid of stuff we don't need anymore. I've been searching for a job but with my declining health I haven't been able to get one.
We have our trials but we have so many things to be grateful for. Our little family unit is doing well. We have such an amazing love for each other. Life is a Journey and I'm glad I'm on it with Todd and Kayl. I don't know where I would be with out them.

Best Friends

Everybody has one. My Best Friend is Tiffany Clarke. I love this amazing woman with all my heart and soul. I was there for her in grade school when kids teased her because she had a short haircut. I was there when her husband left her and their kids for another woman and I will always be there for her no matter what.

I am grateful that she lives so close to me and that our boys are 5 months apart. Kayl and Logan have become fast friends. (Kayl still needs to works on sharing) Today they decided to be explorers. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen.

I keep getting the Disney Movie club invites in the mail and yesterday Kayl discovered the stickers that come in the envelope. I took them off and stuck them to his body. He spent 2 hours entertaining himself by taking them off and putting them back on. He also kept trying to stick them on me. Maybe I should invest in stickers.

Prayers for my friends

I have three friends who need some prayers right now.
First is Katie Harkin. Katie and I met when I worked at Dollar Tree and we became really close friends. Last Sunday she gave birth, after being in the hospital for two months on bed rest, to twins. I got the phone call from her an hour after and she was said to report that one of them was stillborn. We cried together for thirty minutes. Her other baby is in the NICU and was only a pound and a half when he was born. I told her that I would pray for her.
Second is Emily Jacobs. I met Emily when I worked at Iggy's. She was one of the sweetest girls ever. Emily was in a terrible car accident in Denver CO the other day. She lost her right leg just below her knee. To make matters worse, she doesn't have insurance. She is a fighter and has been thru 8 surgeries so far. I pray for her nightly so she can come back to her family in Utah safely.
Third is Julia Robinson. I know her thru Tyson Stewart. The other day her dogs were outside in Provo when they were shot. Her dog Baily made it home and is doing surprisingly well. Her dog Roscoe has still not been found and she thinks that he was killed. I can't believe that someone would shot some innocent animals in the middle of the city.
Please pray for my friends. I know they need the prayers right now.

Food for the Bi-Polar disorder

For a long while now I've had Bi-Polar disorder. I know it is hard to believe that I could be depressed most of the time. I've found excellent ways to hide it. Anyway, I usually get really depressed when I get stressed. I found out recently that most of my stress was caused by our money issues. They have now started to resolve themselves and the stress lifted for three days. I felt completly at ease with life and knew everything would work out.
Today I was hit by some blindsides that knocked me off my game. First, Todd almost lost his job because their insurance company won't insure him to drive the company truck cause he has had a few to many tickets which means he has to use the van for work which means I have no car to run my errands I need to run during the day. Second, Todds father tried to contact him today to beg for money cause he just lost his job and left his wife. Third, I've had an ongoing medical problem that has been making me sick for years but the doctors don't believe me.
For the past 5 years I haven't been able to control my body temperature. It has gotten really bad lately. I constantly have a fan on in the winter and a heater on in the summer. I thought for the longest time that I was crazy. I have no fever what so ever and I pant like a dog all day. I usually have the door open when I can. I think it is part of my depression. I don't really know cause I've had my depression longer.
Today was a very stressful and depressing day for me. In the past when I got depressed I would eat and eat. In the beginning of my depression my comfort food was Bacon. Terrible for me but so yummy. Soon it became sweets such as chocolate or strawberry jam. Weird I know. This new comfort food is totally outside of any comfort food that I can think of. I always want a Cobb Salad from Iggy's when I get depressed. At least it is healthier than my other comfort foods.
Sorry, just venting today. Very stressful.

Fear

I have a lot of fears that most people would think are stupid. Lately one has come back into the mainstream of my life and that is the fear of scary movies.
It all started when I was like 8 or 9. I'm not totally sure, my parents would know better. My dad loves to watch scary movies. His favorite thing to do is just when it is the scariest scream really loud and make everyone jump. I think it had a bigger impact on me than my other siblings.
I wasn't even able to watch Jurassic Park without running to my room in tears. My siblings would make fun of me but I knew that if I watched anything remotely scary I would have nightmares for weeks. It took me 2 years after Jurassic Park came out to finally be able to watch it on my own.
I don't even have to watch a scary movie to have nightmares. There was this one night my dad had rented Poltergeist and everyone was watching it except me. I had shut myself in my room so I didn't have to watch it. The problem was my room was in the basement where everyone was watching the movie so I could hear the sound and the scary music. I didn't sleep for two days.
I know it is a silly fear but it is a fear that I cannot get over no matter what. I'm trying so hard to because Todd loves scary movies.
Two Halloweens ago, we had cable, and all month long on AMC they had horror movies. I watched a few and found that some of them were funny, but there were some that still haunt me to this day. I watched 30 min of Nightmare on Elm Street and I haven't been able to sleep some night because of it. That is one of the movies that Todd wants to watch.
Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy certain scary movies. I've seen some of the Shining and thought it was alright. Todd wants to see; IT, The Shining, Misery, and Nightmare on Elm Street.
I refuse to watch IT. I'm terrified of clowns and I've seen ten minutes of it on tv when I was like 11. I think Sarah was there with me. Misery looks okay, but I will never watch Nightmare on Elm Street.
I know it sounds funny to some people but this fear is one that I have tried for years to get under control and just when I think that it is a movie comes on and my fear is right back to a high level again.

Haircut time

Todd and Kayl both got haircuts last night. I don't have any pictures of Todd but his haircut is the exact same as Kayl's. I was trying to grow Kayls hair out but it became a bother since he's been sick. I think he looks cute anyway his hair is!

We've started Kayl very young, I suppose, into the world of Halo. He loves to watch Todd and I play it. We started to give him a controller when we play so he can pretends to play along. He knows all the buttons and when he happens to get a hold of my controller he is pretty good at killing aliens.

This is the First Christmas since I was a kid that I am super excited. Mostly I just can't wait to see the look on Kayl's face when he wakes up and finds all these neat toys under the tree. Tomorrow is going to be awesome!!

Christmas Letter

I've been busy lately and haven't really thought about this letter. Which is so much different than last year. I try my best to sum up the year.

January started our year with not much change. We lived in an apartment with 7 cats and Kayl. We both were working extremely hard and Kayl was starting to stand a little on his own.
February came and went with not much change. Kayl took his first actual step in March. We got really excited and hoped that he would start walking. Also in March our family became a forever family. It took us three years and we are now proud to say that we have been sealed for time and all eternity.
April flew by so fast that in two days we found an apartment to move into and we were in May 1.
We were really sad to see our cats go to the shelter but for cheaper rent we had to make some sacrifices.

June and July saw Todd working 60 hour weeks while my job slowed down to 10 hours weeks. Kayl finally was running all over the house and we couldn't go one day without Spongebob playing. August and September went by with no problems. Come October we had our Fair share of hard time. First Kayl's tooth broke and we discovered he needed surgery. It was all ready when we found out that he is not covered on our dental insurance. We put it on hold for now.
I got fired from my job three days before Kayl's birthday.
Kayl turned two with no problem and a huge party.

In November our thought turned to the Army. We went to the recruiter and everything, but when it came time to spend the night apart, we couldn't do it. Instead, Todd went out and got himself a new job which starts on January 1. We also celebrated our 3 year anniversary on the 18th of November. I'm still on the job prowl and Kayl is still learning to talk. We are doing great and hope to remain so for years to come.

Our House Exploded

The other day Todd and I were just sitting on the couch watching Bot Meets World when all of a sudden we heard water falling onto a floor. We sat there for a minute thinking it was the show. When the water didn't stop we went on a frantic search to find where it was coming from. Todd went into the bathroom to find a waterfall pouring out of the ceiling. I quickly got some bowls from the kitchen to try and control the water.
Todd ran as fast as he could to the upstairs neighbors to tell them to turn their water off. When he got upstairs the guy from maintenance, Jordan, was already there. He was fixing their drain. The minute he unclogged their bathtub our ceiling started to leak.
Todd and Jordan ran downstairs and ripped our ceiling off to discover two holes in the pipe as big as quarters. Without realizing it Jordan had pushed the clog past the holes and turned the bathtub upstairs on which released a flood of water into our house. He ran down to Home Depot and built a new pipe.
Our ceiling is finally fixed it is just waiting for one more coat of paint. I'll post after pictures soon.

Last year I decided that I would write a book. I have great creative writing skills. My dream was put on the back burner when I got my job. Since I lost my job I decided to take it up again. I searched my whole computer for my book. I was beginning to think that my husband deleted it. Today, as I was sending a few resumes away I saw a file named Book. I opened it and to my surprise there was the first two chapters of my book. I sat down and wrote some more and changed a few things with the chapters. Now I'm stuck. I have writers block. Any feedback would be nice.

Chapter 1

I was born on a cold night to a pair of uncaring parents. It was a miracle that I survived the birth. My mother was on meth that night and my father was nowhere to be found.
When my mother, Vicky, appeared in the Emergency room the nurses paid no attention to her. They thought that she was just another drug addict looking for a quick fix at the hospital. It was about two hours before the police were called because my mother was being crazy.
The police showed up in about 5 minutes and tried to take my mother into custody when her water broke. All at once no one cared that my mother was high and they rushed her up to a birthing room.

“Vicky, where is your husband?”
“I don’t know,” my mother screamed. “I walked here!”
“Are you allergic to any medicine? Do you have insurance? Who is your OB?”
“I don’t know!! Just get this thing out of me!!!”

The doctor came rushing in and told the nurses not to give my mother any pain killers. He didn’t want to hurt me anymore than I already was. He quickly put a fetal monitor on my head, I was still inside of my mother at this point. He called for an ultra-sound machine.
Ten minutes later my father was brought up in handcuffs. He was being arrested for a DUI and my mother didn’t care.

“I’ll bail you out when I’m done here. I love you Baby!” my mother screamed.
“I love you too”

The doctor finally got the ultrasound machine brought to him. He began to scan my mothers body but he could not see me. He got really concerned because my mother was forty-one weeks pregnant and I was nowhere in the body.
My mother was rushed to the OR so they could perform a C-section to get me out. When the doctor cut into my mother he was surprised at what he found. There I was, staring up at him, not making a peep, clean as a whistle, and in perfect health. He slowly reached into my mother and picked me up. The minute I felt his hands on me I gave him a big hug and smiled.

I was a medical anomaly. By the fourth hour in the hospital I was crawling. The nurses could not keep up with me. The doctor called in specialist from all over the world to come and look at me. I was only eight pounds and I was now standing.
As the experts began to arrive, I started to walk. The nurses began to play tag with me and as I was chasing them I got frustrated.

“ STOP!” I yelled.

The nurses turned around so fast, they had thought that a doctor had yelled at them. When they saw me glaring at them they started to laugh. Two seconds later I was laughing.
By this point all of the experts were there. They all began running tests on me. An hour into the tests I terrified the experts by telling them that I needed a MRI on my brain.

“I think that there is something in my brain that is blocking my optical nerve because I can’t see out of my right eye anymore.”

They rushed me to the MRI, and to their surprise my brain was the size of a grown women. Discovering this, they were able to tell my mother what was going on.

“Vicky, your daughter is a miracle. She is so advanced already.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, your daughter was born with a fully developed brain. She is a fully grown woman inside an eight pound body. Now there are some complications with this.”
“What kind of complications?”
“Your daughter is going to have to remain in the hospital until she is 21. She has to be kept under constant watch. Her brain is so big it is causing her blindness right now. She has been walking and talking but we need to keep her here so she doesn’t get hurt.”
“What makes you think she will get hurt at our house?”
“By law, I am not allowed to give her too you. You were on meth when you gave birth and your husband was arrested for a DUI.”
“I’m a good mother!! My son is with a babysitter right now!!”
“You have a son?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Well, I still can’t give her to you and I’m going to be calling child services and your son will be brought here to stay with his sister. He may need medical attention.”

Twenty minutes later, my brother was brought into my room. Darren was five when I was born he was so excited to meet me. Darren climbed right into my bed and we sat up and talked about how he was. He was really scared at first because I was so small. After about five minutes he warmed up to me and we started to play together. We both got really tired two hours later and we fell asleep.

Chapter 2

I awoke, sweating and dehydrated. I rolled over to check on Darren, he was still asleep. I slowly climbed out of bed and started pacing. As I was pacing the door started to slowly open. As if I had a sixth sense I sprinted to the door and slammed it shut. Darren awoke in tears from the noise.

“Darren, it’s mommy open the door. I want to kiss you and your sister goodnight.” came the sickly sweet voice from the other side of the door.

“Darren don’t! It’s a trick! She is going to take us away from here and hurt us!” I screamed.
“Your sister is wrong, I love you and would never hurt you two.”
“Please, listen to me. She is a bad person, she doesn’t love us.”

It was no use, Darren had been living with Vicky for five years and he loved her no matter what she had done to him. I ran as fast as I could to the Help button on the wall but I was too slow. Vicky was on top of me, crushing my little body. I had no choice but to surrender to her. She quickly hit me over the head with an IV pole knocking me unconscious.
I knew that my body was unconscious but my mind wasn’t. I could see what was going on and I quickly tried to regain control of my body. It was no use, I could not wake myself up. Now I had to watch what she was doing to me from a different dimension.
She picked my limp body up of the floor and wrapped me in a blanket. She slowly placed me in her oversize purse, grabbed Darren by the wrist and walked out the door.
For about twenty minutes I was in total darkness. I could hear voices all around me, yelling. When I finally saw light again my body was awake again. I slowly poked my head out of the bag and noticed that I was in a house. My mother was nowhere to be seen. I climbed out of the bag and found myself in a room that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in over 20 years.
I was frantic trying to find Darren. I tore the room apart but there was no sign of him anywhere. All of a sudden my mind pulled my body to the door. I slowly opened it and noticed that there was someone crying three doors down. I checked to hallway to make sure that no one was around and I ran for the door. I opened the door and I found my mother beating Darren with a garden hose.
My mother was too busy with Darren to notice that I was there. Darren turned his head to look at me. I had a strange sensation come over me. I had never felt so much anger in my short life as I did when I saw this.
I ran out of the room and down the hall to the kitchen. Being only 8 pounds, it was very difficult to push a chair over to the counter. I finally got the chair in a good position to climb on top of the counter. I found a knife and my mothers cell phone.
I frantically called 911. I was able to remain calm enough to tell them what was going on. There was disbelief from the dispatcher but I was persistent and she told me that the police were on their way.
I hung up the phone in time to hear footsteps coming down the hall. My mother was coming. I felt terrified for the first time. I knew she would notice the chair out of place and I had no time to fix it. I jumped from the counter with the knife in hand and hid under the sink.
I peeked out from my cupboard and noticed my mother was carrying a very limp Darren. Ten minutes passed as my mother just stood in the kitchen holding Darren’s body. Suddenly my ears heard the sirens and my mother sprang into action. She took Darren’s body and stuffed it in the cupboard next to mine. I saw her running around the house throwing away all of her drug paraphernalia. When she left the room to check the other rooms for drugs I moved from my cupboard to the one Darren was in.
He was alive!! I knew that if I didn’t get him to the hospital soon he would die. I had to think fast. I was tiny and couldn’t lift Darren.
KNOCK KNOCK
“ Mrs. Porter, we got a call from this address about a possible abusive situation and drug abuse.”
“ I don’t know what you are talking about, I’m just here with my children and we are watching movies and eating popcorn.”
“Do you mind if we come in and check?”
“Um… sure…. Come on in.”
It was then I reacted. I opened the cupboard a crack to see my mothers feet standing in front of the cupboard Darren and I were in. I pulled my knife and stuck it in her foot. She screamed and fell to the floor. The cops rushed over to the cupboard and opened it to find my brother and I hiding. My mother kept screaming that we were just playing Hide and Seek.
“Hi there, my name is Sergeant Nelson, what’s yours?”
“This is my brother Darren and he needs to get to a hospital now.”
The Sergeant fell back in disbelief. He had addressed the question to my brother who was regaining consciousness and I had answered.

Chapter 3
“What’s your name?” Sgt. Nelson asked me
“ I actually don’t have a name yet.”
“How old are you?”
“Eight hours and eleven minutes old.”
“ Incredible!”
As we were talking my mother was arrested and I heard the ambulance arrive to take Darren and I back to the hospital.
“ I think you need a name before you go anywhere.”
“ Will you name me?”
Sgt. Nelson was quiet the whole ride to the hospital. I knew he was deep in thought about what to name me.
When we arrived at the Hospital I refused to leave Darren. I felt a huge responsibility to him. Sgt. Nelson calmed me down enough to be taken back to the room that had been assigned to me eight hours earlier.
We sat in silence for over thirty minutes. I was so worried about Darren that I jumped out of my skin when Sgt. Nelson started to talk.
“ I’ve put a lot of thought into the name that I want to give you. If you don’t like it you don’t have to keep it.”
“ What is it?”
“ I’ve decided to name you Katrina. It means pure.”
“ That is a beautiful name.”
I kept saying it over and over in my mind and I fell in love with it. I smiled as the doctor walked in the room.
“ Excuse me, Sgt. Nelson, can I talk to you alone for a minute.”
“ I’ll be right back Katrina.”
He left with the doctor and I sat there alone for quite sometime. I wanted so badly to see my brother and know what was going on with him.
The door opened, the doctor and Sgt. Nelson came back in. Their faces looked grim. It was bad news an I already knew it.
“ Katrina, I have some bad news. Your brother is in a coma and they don’t know if he’ll ever come out. Your mother did a lot more damage than we thought. Since both of your parents are in prison the responsibility falls to you to make a decision.”
“ What are my options?”
“ You could wait it out and see if he comes around or you could pull the plug and let him die.”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I had been alive only nine hours and I had already lost my family.

Chapter 4
Sgt. Nelson and the doctor left the room so I could think. I did not want to lose Darren, he was the only family member I cared for. I couldn’t bear the thought of pulling the plug. I loved him and needed him.
For the first time in nine hours I broke down and cried. I didn’t want to make this decision and I knew I couldn’t make it.

The other week I was sleeping away the morning. Kayl is so nice and let's me sleep in. This particular day I was not awoken by his normal knocking on his door for me to let him out. No, I was woken up by a big smack in the face. I looked up and to my surprise Kayl was standing there smiling at me. When he saw that I opened my eyes he ran off laughing. I finally was able to get him opening a door on camera.

Halloween Preview

Ever since I could remember my mom would have all of the kids match on Halloween. I remember going as the cast of the Wizard of Oz and a set of Dominos. So, I decided that I would do that with my family. Last year we went as Star Trek Captians and Kayl was Data's cat, Spot. I think my dad was the only one who got that. This year we are going more mainstream. Kayl is going as Peter Pan, I'm going as Tinker Bell, and Todd is Captian Hook. I'm excited to get pictures of all of us in our costumes. They are awesome.

P.S. If we come to your house and Kayl doesn't have the hat on it's because he hates hats!!

Tooth Problems continued

I took Kayl to the dentist yesterday and they took an x-ray and refered me to a pediatric dentist. I then took him straight to that dentist. He took a good look at his teeth and then told me that Kayl has to have surgery on his mouth. Their goal in doing this is that they can fix his entire mouth in one sweep. They have to pull four of his teeth and make him a retainer with four little fake teeth on them so he still has teeth. They also are going to fix the rest of his teeth with crowns and stuff like that. Since he is two the dentist was nervous that his molars hadn't started to come in but to his and my surprise they are almost broken thru. His surgery is schedualed for next Thursday. That's right, the day after he turns two. It's days like this that I wish I had more money. I'm nervous because he has never been under general anesthisa before. I'll keep ya'll updated.

Tooth incident

Kayl Loves popcorn just like I do. We eat it like twice a month. He loves to stick his hands and his feet in the bowl and make a mess on the floor and couch. The other day he was eating some popcorn and just chilling with me. We were then getting ready for bed and I began to brush his teeth as I was brushing a hard white thing fell out of his mouth. I stopped brushing to discover that half of his front tooth was missing. I panicked and called the emergency dentist and my mother-in-law. They said that as long as the root isn't exposed he should be fine but to make an appointment with the dentist to see if there is anything they can to do fix it. Thankfully it doesn't bother him. I t was just scary for me!

I know that it has been a while since I've blogged but our internet signal went out again and this time we don't think it is coming back. Lately we have just been taking Kayl to fun parks and doing a lot of fun activities. We are trying to get him used to the idea of other children. He is growing up so fast it is crazy. I can't believe that in October he will be 2 years old.
The other week we took Kayl to the dinosaur museum. I think that I enjoyed it a little more than he did so we will probably be going back when he grows up a little bit more.

I tried to upload pictures but blogger decided to be retarded and not let me. Oh, well I'll give you a picture overload next week sometime.

For as long as I can remember I hated the color brown and any form of it. Not until I got married and relized the awesomeness of the color.

Todd and went searching for a new couch that would be easy to clean an comfy to sit on. Our old couch was free so we never complained but we've had it for 3 years and it was not suiting us anymore. We looked forever for the right one and finally found the one I wanted. I guess ya'll can see our other little toy in the middle picture. We are slowly upgrading to furniture that we can be proud of. Look how grown up I am now!!

Ever since I've been married I have never lived in the same place for more than a year. I wanted to but either I hated the apartment or the rent got to expensive. Well, I just signed the lease for the place we are at now for another year. We moved here in April but we were finishing someone elses lease. With the rent being only 650 we were excited that it had a lot of amenities that our other ones have not. For example we have a dishwasher, washer/dryer hook-ups, and we only pay for power and gas. The major downfall was giving up our cats. I still cry about that.
Since we signed the lease for another year I decided it was time to make this apartment my home. I'm now saving money each week to do a little redecorating. Last week after we rearranged the bedroom I went to K-Mart and got a spectacular deal on new bedding for our big bed. I was super proud of myself.
I'm now saving up to redo the bathroom. I found the cutest Spongebob Bathroom decor and I decided that I'm going to do the bathroom that way. Mostly for Kayl cause he loves Spongebob.
I'm also in the process of searching for a new couch, I found a fantastic one at R.C. Willey. It is on sale and everything but I don't think I'll have enough saved up in time to buy it so I'm searching Craigslist and KSL as well. This is the one I saw at R.C. Willey and fell in love with. Wish I had the 750 to get it!!

I'm also on the prowl for a new vacuum cause mine is dying a very slow death. K-Mart had some awesome deals so I may go back for the one there.
I've discovered that K-Mart has awesome deals on everything.
If anyone has a couch that they don't need anymore let me know cause we need a newer one then the one we have. My mother-in law gave us the one we use now and it was really meant for a formal living room so it is not very comfy nor is it stain resistant. Kayl loves to smear crap all over it. I'm also looking for a decent shoe rack and a DVD cabinet that I can close and lock. Kayl's new favorite activity is grabbing a DVD and opening it to play with the disc. I'm slowly going to make this apartment mine.
Todd and I went to Wal-Mart and bought a bunch of picture frames and printed out a ton of pictures. Now our house is a museum of pictures from our life so far. I love walking in the house and seeing pictures of us, Kayl, and our cats. I want to get some more pictures up so if anyone has pictures of you with either me, Todd, or Kayl please send them to me and I'll frame them and put them up on the wall.

Room Rearrange

Since Kayl got sick I was keeping him in our room during the day and at night. Our bed was way to high and he is such a wiggle worm that I was scared that he would fall off. So at like midnight last night Todd and I decided to rearrange our bedroom. We took the entire bedframe out and now we sleep on the mattress closer to the floor. Kayl was so excited for this new setup cause mommy and daddy can now run and job on the bed while he is on it. It is one of his favorite games. He likes cause he can watch Disney movies better now. I like cause it is easier to just fall into bed.

Sick with what!?!

Kayl has been so sick lately. It was such a sudden onset and I was terrified. His fever shot to 106 and it never went down past 101. He was throwing up and was just so miserable. I didn't know what to do. Then I was on Facebook and I was reading my sisters status and it said that my brother had the swine flu. I got super scared cause she was at my house the day before he got sick and was holding him and playing with him. I rushed him over to the Instacare. They ran a strep test first cause his tinsils were huge. It came back negative so they did the Swine Flu test and that one was negative so they said he probably just has a virus so they sent us home and told us to give him plenty of fluids and switch of Tylenol and Motrin every 2 hours. I did that.
Then this morning I woke up to the scariest sight you'll ever see.

I freaked out and burst into tears. I thought "Oh crap my baby is dying" I called the Instacare and talked to the same doctor that saw him yesterday. I told her his new symptoms and she said that it is Roseola Also called baby measles. This is a nonserious but common childhood viral infection that starts with a high fever and swollen lymph glands. After 24 hours, the fever breaks and the child develops a red rash on the neck and trunk.
She said that it would go away but it may come back often. It was just terrifing. At least I know what it so I won't freak out next time.

So, our Internet signal went out for about two weeks again. Not much has been going on in the Tangreen home. I got my hours massivly cut back at work and was really upset with that. They should go back up in the fall but for now I'm looking for a second job because one shift a week just doesn't help. Kayl is getting smarter everyday. The other day he found an empty box dragged it over to the TV and stood on it so he could get the remote. He was also taking a bath and I was sitting on the toilet just watching him when all of a sudden he crawled out of the bathtub walked over to me, tried to open his potty. I told him no because I thought he just wanted to play with it. He looked straight at me and peed on the rug in front of me. I guess he just wants to potty train himself. Thankfully Todd's job is way busy right now. He usually has to work 6 days a week so that kind of sucks but it is good money. Well, that's it for now.

Does anyone have a scanner I could borrow for a day or two? I really need to scan all of my old pictures to my computer!! Thanks!!

Daddy's Little Helper

Kayl was wandering around the house today and he found where I hid his big box of Goldfish. He decided that since I wasn't looking that he would open the box and dump them on the floor. I turned around and found Kayl sitting in a mound of Goldfish and so proud of himself. He sat there and ate the majority of them.
Todd got the vacuum out and turned it on. Kayl ran to him and started to push the vacuum. It was the cutest thing ever. He got mad when Todd turned the vacuum off because he wanted to clean more. I know who is vacuuming when he gets older!!

My Child No Longer Drinks From A Bottle!!!!!!!!

We got him some SpongeBob sippy cups since he loves SpongeBob. Ever since we got them he hasn't touched a bottle. I'm so proud of him!

Jingle-Jingle

Run to mommy, she has jingles in her pocket.

Grab Mr. Pig

Hit mommy with Mr. Pig and point at the top of it.

Make mommy put jingles in in Mr. Pig and laugh and smile.

Wait til Friday when mommy goes to money store.

Bring Mr. Pig

Give mommy Mr. Pig to give to money lady.

Get a piece of paper.

Todd and I thought it would be a great idea to open a savings account for Kayl. When ever we have loose change we put it in a little piggy bank that we got when we opened the account. Kayl now knows the sound of loose change and will run to us when he hears it. He will bring his little piggy bank too.
I go to the bank every Friday and the minute I get the piggy bank Kayl runs to the door. He loves the bank and loves the little piece of paper that he gets after Mr. Pig gets empty.
